Coach Derrick began his coaching journey when his son DJ decided he wanted to pursue a career in basketball. Coach Derrick was determined to expose his son to any and all basketball related resources he could find. Finding limited resources, biased environments, Coach Derrick began to gain independent knowledge of the game and began training DJ himself.

In the 6 years since, Coach Derrick has become a master coach holding coaching credentials in Prince George's County, Maryland and training youth across the county.
